Shopify Design Breakdown - Taking UI/UX Inspiration From Goli

Goli is an up-and-rising health and wellness brand that is determined to revolutionize this domain of the market. In January of 2021, Goli’s New Ashwa Vitamin was said to be selling 200 bottles per minute! This is a brand that knows how to sell and is only growing exceptionally good at it with every passing minute. Quite literally!

Goli is a wellness brand “focussed on making health simple and delicious”. The company provides innovative yet nutritious daily supplements that are formulated with quality products. And their website helps aid their mission. 

Today in our Design Breakdown series, we took inspiration from Goli to understand their Shopify store design better and share some of their design strategies that make their online store easier to experience.

12 Shopify Store Design Inspirations from Goli

1. Big announcement bars

Announcement bars help promote and bring focus to the current deal without being too pushy. Goli makes use of this design element to persuade the store visitor to make a purchase. 

Goli also uses its announcement bar to talk about the cause(s) it supports. This bar is visible on all pages of the site and is hard to go unnoticeable.

2. High-quality hero image with CTA

A hero image is your first attempt at grabbing the online shopper’s attention. You want this to be as attractive yet persuasive as possible. Boast about your value proposition in this section. 

Use wide banners and animations to make it stand out.

Goli makes use of crisp and clear copy along with striking visuals. Additionally, they’ve also mentioned all the unique features of their product with clipart which makes it all the more persuasive. With an added distinctive CTA (Call to Action) button, this is just perfect!



Another interesting element here is the use of contextual visualization. If you take a look at each of the images, they are all in the colors of the ingredients used. For instance, for Apple Cider Vinegar Gummy, the bottle branding is red in color and the dedicated sections on it, are also in the same theme color.

3. Social proof

Over 87% of purchase decisions are made after looking into product reviews, ratings, and testimonials. Thus, social proof can massively impact a consumer’s purchase decision. 

Goli has added a dedicated section for this on their homepage itself. This helps establish trust and credibility right from the beginning. As you can see, they don’t just display product ratings, but also authentic testimonials alongside customer names. 



4. Media mentions

Consumers still prefer physical wellness stores over online stores. As an online health and wellness store, you need to work strategically to build the trust of your target audience. If your brand has been mentioned by any big media house in the past, mention it. This can improve your brand credibility exponentially. 

Goli has added this section on its homepage. Notice how this section’s content is laid out. The name of the show, a short description of the feature, and a video of it are all added to strategically leverage the value of that television show while also improving its credibility.



5. Dedicated section for a cause area(s) they support

The 2020 Zeno Strength of Purpose Study shows that consumers are four to six times more likely to purchase from a brand that supports a cause they care about. 

And so, if there is any cause -big or small - your brand works towards and/or supports, mention it on your website; preferable the homepage.



Goli also uses its announcement bar to talk about the cause(s) it supports. This bar is visible on all pages of the site and is hard to go unnoticeable.



6. Dedicated FAQ page

Consumers are bound to have a lot of questions and doubts before purchasing from an online health and wellness brand. How you, as a brand, tackle this consumer confusion and anxiety is going to make a huge difference in your conversion rates.

Goli tackles this by adding a dedicated FAQ page to clear any query the potential buyer might have. This page is also divided into clear sections answering any and every question the user might have at any point in their shopping journey.



7. Option to change to one-time purchase or subscription during checkout

Owing to convenience, personalized experience, and value for money, close to 15% of online shoppers have subscribed to an eCommerce subscription service last year.

Unlike other domains of eCommerce, health and wellness brands require a longer commitment with the brand to see effective results. This means that consumers will have to keep coming back to you to re-purchase/renew a particular product and/or service. Goli understands this and has integrated the subscription into its online storefront. 



While it is common to see this option on the product page, Goli takes its website UX a level up by also adding this option on its checkout page. This helps the user make quicker and faster alterations if needed. It’s a great way to secure recurring sales and revenue, helping one grow sustainably in a competitive market.

8. Prominent coupon code section on the checkout page with express checkout option

According to Baymard Institute, 18% of customers abandon their checkout before making a purchase due to too long or complicated checkout procedures.

While checking out on Goli, you are given an option of ‘Express Checkout’ through PayPal or Shop Pay. Furthermore, the checkout page also has a distinct gift card or discount code filed so it's hard to miss when completing a purchase.

9. Sticky shop now banner button 

Over 62% of online shoppers are less likely to buy from an e-commerce brand if they have a negative website experience. User Experience plays a huge role in the likeability, acceptability, and growth of an online brand. How your brand prioritizes its UI/UX is going to have a direct impact on your conversion and retention rates.

One such interesting design element incorporated by Goli to enhance the UX of its online store  is the use of sticky Add to Bag buttons. Sticky Add to Bag Button is said to increase order rates by 8%. These buttons are always visible and ready for clicking even when the user scrolls up or down the page. 

10. Video on home page 

Videos are engaging and convey a story better. They help gauge the user’s attention. Here’s something interesting - putting a video on your landing page can reduce the bounce rate by an average of 34%.

And so Goli has made use of video on their homepage. In fact, they have used a celebrity video to further make the brand aspirational. Genius!

Interestingly, have strategically placed the video a little lower on the landing page so that there are no load time issues as well. 

11. Disclaimer in the footer 

For an industry like that of health and wellness, everything is subjective; the process, effect, and results. Furthermore, proper Foods and Drug Administration evaluation is also necessary to establish trust and credibility. 

Goli adds this disclaimer in its footer. While this may not be great visual design-wise, for this industry, it is extremely important to have. 

12. Payment security 

Online shopping is all about convenience. And the online payment is an important aspect of this ‘convenience’. This means that offering payment options like Paypal that are beyond traditional credit and debit cards is crucial today.

However, just offering these options can never really cut. Letting the user know about it and the security involved is also crucial. Usually, most stores only mention this in a very small size in one corner of the website. However, Goli has put it up front and center to assure the consumers about the safety and privacy guaranteed when shopping from its online store.
